Read this part if you read nothing else. Domain Lab is a monitoring and alerting tool. It watches your domains and tells you what it sees. It does not renew domains, does not renew certificates, and cannot guarantee that every alert arrives. Keep your own renewal arrangements in place. Treat Domain Lab as a second pair of eyes, not the only pair.
1. Who you are agreeing with
These terms are between you and Domain Lab LLC, a Minnesota limited liability company wholly owned by Objective Labs, LLC. "We" and "us" mean Domain Lab LLC. "You" means the person or organisation using the service.
By creating an account or using domainlab.app or the Domain Lab API, you accept these terms. If you are agreeing on behalf of a company, you confirm you are allowed to bind it.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 16 and able to enter a contract.
- Give us an email address you actually read. Alerts are the product, and we send them there.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your password and API keys secret.
- Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you think someone else has access.
- One person or organisation per account. Do not share logins to get around plan limits.
3. What the service does
Domain Lab periodically checks the domains you add and records what it finds: registration and expiry dates from WHOIS and RDAP, SSL certificate details, nameservers and DNS records. When something changes, it creates an event and, depending on your settings, sends you an alert by email, Slack, Pushover or webhook. On paid plans it can also generate a written explanation of what changed using a third-party language model.
How often we check, how much history we keep and how many domains you can monitor depend on your plan. Current limits are on the pricing page.
4. What the service does not do
This matters more than anything else in these terms, so we are being blunt about it.
- We do not guarantee delivery. Alerts depend on email providers, Slack, Pushover and your own webhook endpoints. Any of them can fail, delay or filter a message.
- We do not guarantee accuracy. Our data comes from registries, registrars, WHOIS and RDAP servers, public DNS resolvers and the certificates servers present. When those sources are wrong, slow, rate-limited or unavailable, so are we.
- We do not renew anything. Domain Lab never registers, renews, transfers or pays for a domain or a certificate. That stays entirely with you and your registrar.
- AI explanations are advisory. They are generated by a language model and can be incomplete or wrong. Verify anything important before acting on it.
- We do not promise uninterrupted service. We aim for high availability and publish status at status.domainlab.app, but we do not offer a contractual uptime guarantee.
5. Acceptable use
Do not use Domain Lab to:
- Break any law, or infringe anyone's rights.
- Monitor domains for harassment, stalking, or to time an attack on someone else's infrastructure.
- Harvest registrant contact details for marketing, resale or bulk collection.
- Attack, probe or overload our systems, or anyone else's, through our service.
- Circumvent plan limits, rate limits or billing, including by running multiple free accounts.
- Resell or redistribute the service or its data as your own product without our written agreement.
- Upload credentials or webhooks you are not authorised to use.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. Where the breach is not serious and can be fixed, we will normally warn you first.
6. Plans, billing and cancellation
- There is a free plan. Paid plans are billed in advance through Stripe on a recurring basis until cancelled.
- Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax we are required to add.
- Your subscription renews automatically. Cancel any time in your account settings.
- Cancelling stops the next charge and keeps your plan running until the end of the period you already paid for. We do not pro-rate part months.
- If a payment fails we may retry it and, if it keeps failing, move you to the free plan. Data beyond the free plan's limits may then be removed under the retention rules in the Privacy Policy.
- We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice by email. The new price applies from your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.
- Refunds are not automatic, but if the service failed you, email us and we will deal with it fairly. Consumers in the UK and EU keep their statutory rights.
7. API use
API access is subject to the rate and volume limits of your plan. Keep your API keys secret, rotate them if exposed, and do not use the API to build a substantially similar competing monitoring product. We may change or deprecate endpoints, and we will give reasonable notice before a breaking change.
8. Your content and our service
The domains you add, the settings you configure and the credentials you store remain yours. You grant us only the permission we need to run the service for you: to store that information, query public records about your domains, and deliver alerts where you asked.
Everything that makes up Domain Lab itself, the software, interface, brand and documentation, belongs to us. These terms do not transfer any of it to you.
9. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, or that any alert will be delivered.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, or the loss of a domain name or certificate, whatever the cause.
Our total liability to you for any claim connected with the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or one hundred US dollars.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
11. Ending the agreement
You can close your account at any time. We can suspend or close it if you break these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we stop offering the service, in which case we will give you reasonable notice and a chance to export your data.
When an account closes we delete its data in line with the retention periods in the Privacy Policy. Sections 8 through 10 survive termination.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the effective date at the top, and for material changes we will email you at least 30 days beforehand. Continuing to use Domain Lab after a change takes effect means you accept it. If you do not, cancel before then.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. The state and federal courts of Minnesota have exclusive jurisdiction, except that consumers may bring proceedings in the courts of the country where they live and keep the protection of their local mandatory law.
14. Everything else
- If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
- Not enforcing a right immediately does not waive it.
- You may not transfer these terms without our consent. We may transfer them if the business is sold, on notice to you.
- These terms, with the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Notice, are the whole agreement between us.
